This knit pumpkin pie garland is a great way to express your love for fall! These are knit flat, one piece of pie at a time, with attached pompom whipped cream peaks. Pie pieces are then secured to each other to create the garland.
Skills Needed: Cable Cast-On, knit, k2tog decrease, central double decrease (S2KP, instructions included).
Finished Measurements:
Each piece: 5.75 in. [14.7 cm] wide, 6 in. [15.3 cm] tall.
Yarn:
Color 1 (Crust): 1 skein Hedgehog Fibres Merino DK (DK; 100% Superwash Merino; 219 yds [200 m]/4 oz. [115 g]) in Stone. 1/2 skein is more than enough for 10 pieces of pie.
Color 2 (Pie Filling): 1 skein Boss Kitty BKDK (DK; 100% Superwash Merino; 230 yds [210 m]/4 oz. [115 g]) in Tales from St. Olaf. 1 skein is enough for 10 pieces of pie.
Color 3 (Whipped Cream Peaks) (optional): 1 skein Cascade Yarns 220 Superwash Sport (Sport; 100% Superwash Merino; 136 yds [125 m]/1.75 oz. [50 g]) in Aran. Number of pompoms will depend on how thick you make them, but as pictured, 1 skein is enough for 10 whipped cream peaks.
Needles: US size 5 (3.75 mm) straight needles or 24 in. [60 cm] circular needle.
Gauge (after soaking and blocking): 24 sts and 40 rows = 4 in. [10 cm] in garter stitch.
Other materials: Tapestry needle, wool wash such as Eucalan, a 1.75 in. [4.5 cm] pom pom maker, and thin yarn or thread similar to Color 3 to tie off pom poms.
Also fun: Make a giant pie piece using bulky yarn and size 13 needles!!
