Blank Card - Charlie

Charlie the Tuxedo Cat, who features in The Seventies Collective series, arrived in this world with one very clear understanding: the house belongs to him, and everyone in it is a guest.

He is enormous. Not in a cuddly, round-the-edges way. His purr is a seismic event. His eyes are large, golden and unblinking. His hair is everywhere. Every surface, every curtain, every inch of bedding.

Charlie decides who gets to stay. Mark does not get to stay. Charlie communicates this through raised hackles, a doubled tail, and the confident hiss of a cat who knows he's the largest thing in the room.

He is not without tenderness. He allows selected humans to scratch behind both ears at the same time, at which point his eyes roll back and his mouth drops open. He licks tears off necks.

Charlie does not chase tail. Except occasionally his own, when he thinks no one is looking.
