Nina Bowater & Miss Morris
This download contains an article and a General Arrangement plan for the cargo ship Nina Bowater, that was completed in 1961 for the Bowater group, It concerns a voyage I made in the ship in 1968 from Ellesmere Port, UK, to Charleston, South Carolina and back for a cargo of wood pulp. This is not a model making article, but as plans are included, they could be used to build models of the Nina Bowater or her sister ships: Elizabeth Bowater, Constance Bowater, Alice Bowater, Phyllis Bowater and Gladys Bowater.
The second part of the download is a constructional article for building a miniature model of the three-masted Welsh topsail schooner, Miss Morris, completed in 1896 and sunk by a U Boat in 1917. Sail, deck and lines plans are included for the Miss Morris.
Also a section on printing large-scale plans in multiple A4 sections on most modern printers
The download has 34 pages, 7,791 words and 66 images mostly in colour. A number of links, including one to a cine film shot aboard the U Boat showing Miss Morris being overhauled and stopped, and also dramatic movie footage of the ship sinking, are included. These links will work as long as you are connected to the internet. No lives were lost, as the U Boat allowed the crew to leave before placing an explosive charge aboard.
If printed out, the document will be A4 size.
