Level III is the training required to become a commissioned (armed) security officer.

It is more advanced than Level II and includes firearms training, defensive tactics, legal responsibilities, and safety procedures.

After completing Level III (Commissioned Security Officer) training online, you usually receive:

1. A Level III Certificate of Completion

Issued by the licensed training school. This proves you successfully completed the required classroom and written exam portion.

2. Documentation for Firearms Qualification

Level III training requires in-person firearms range qualification—this cannot be done online.

So after you complete the online portion, you usually receive instructions or documents to:

  • Schedule your live-fire proficiency test
  • Bring required identification, firearm, ammunition, and gear
  • Complete fingerprinting if required

3. Eligibility to Apply for a Commissioned Security License

Once you finish all Level III components (online + in-person range + fingerprints), you can submit:

  • Certificate of completion
  • Range qualification scores
  • Fingerprints/background check
  • Application fee
