A boundary can name what is different. It can protect what has been entrusted. But it does not have to become a barrier to grace.

The Stone Wall begins with a story passed down through generations about two neighboring farm families who found themselves on opposite sides of the Civil War. A stone wall marked the boundary between their land, and their loyalties divided them further. Yet when soldiers came through their community, the families quietly protected one another’s livestock and belongings.

They did not erase their differences.

They simply refused to let division have the final word.

Centered on Ephesians 2:13–19 and Romans 12:18, The Stone Wall explores the difference between a necessary boundary and a barrier built by hostility. Together, participants will consider what it means to pursue peace without pretending disagreement or harm does not exist, surrender hostility without surrendering discernment, and recognize what genuinely lies within their own responsibility—and what must be entrusted to God.

A Hearthside Gathering can be used with a church group, women’s ministry, small group, Sunday school class, book-club-style gathering, a few friends around a kitchen table, or simply on your own.

The Host Guide provides gentle direction without requiring you to become a teacher. The discussion questions are designed to encourage thoughtful conversation rather than search for a single “right” answer.

And if gathering a group isn’t practical right now, the Participant Packet can also be worked through individually as a personal study and reflection.
