Who This Is For
This will suit writers at a range of stages: from those at the beginning of an idea, to those partway through a draft who are looking for direction and a grounded sense of how their work is developing.
The Novel Clarity Session is a focused, one-to-one conversation designed to help you step back and take a look at what’s already there. You may have a strong idea, a sense of your characters or even a partial draft, but the overall shape of the story feels uncertain, or just out of reach.
Before we meet, you’re welcome to send up to 5,000 words and/or a project outline, depending on where you are in the process. I’ll read this in advance so we can get going from the outset!
There’s also space to talk through questions you may already have or to explore areas that feel uncertain. The aim is to arrive at a clearer understanding of your work and how it might move forward. After the session, I’ll send a short follow-up email summarising the key points we discussed, along with suggested next steps, so you have something concrete to return to as you continue writing.
This session is particularly useful for writers who feel stuck/overwhelmed at earlier stages of their novel, who would benefit from an outside perspective to move forward.
Next Steps...
I work with a small number of writers at a time as the kind of reading and feedback I offer requires time, attention and a close engagement with each piece of work.
Before booking is confirmed, you’ll be asked to share a little about your project. I’ll read this to ensure the session is the right fit, and then be in touch with next steps, including payment and scheduling.
The form itself is simply a way for me to understand where you are with your writing and what you might need. There’s no expectation to have everything figured out, a few honest reflections are more than enough.
To help me understand your work before we meet, could you please share a few brief details below. You might like to include:
- A sentence or two about your project (idea, genre, or stage)
- What you’re finding most challenging at the moment
- What you’d most like to get out of the session
- Roughly how much you’ve written so far
