Ægeria was one of the four water nymphs known as the Camenæ in ancient Rome. Pregnant women worshiped her to help ease delivery. She was also known as a prophet who could foretell a person's future. But being a water nymph makes her name perfect for my water-themed shawl.
Shawl starts with a long cast on, then the swirling eddies of lace are worked before the shawl is shaped by garter stitch short rows to form a pleasing crescent.
