Forest Finds is a cardigan for slowing down. Crisp stitches and structural details recall the littlest details of a woodland treasure hunt, and the diagonals and long lines evoke all the branches, leaves and lamella of a harmonious autumn ramble. In sportweight Roan, this sweater offers layering versatility and cozy comfort.

CONSTRUCTION

Forest Finds is worked with a unique construction. Front centers, back center, and side panels are worked from the bottom up. Front side centers include pockets knit in-line. Side panels are joined to the front and back centers using a 3-needle bind-off.

Body and sleeves are seamed from the hems to the underarm, and a 3-needle bind-off is used to join the sleeves to the body. Stitches are picked up and knit for the hem, collar, and placket. The zipper is sewn in by hand. If you wish to replace the zipper with a button band, the appendix provides notes on how to make that modification.

This pullover is designed for bodies with breasts, and there is more ease in the front than in the back. The front, zipped, is 0.5 (3.5, 4.25, 4.25, 4.5) [5, 5.25, 5.5] (6, 6.25, 6.75, 7) inches / 1.5 (8.5, 10.5, 10.5, 11.5) [12, 13, 14] (15, 16, 17, 17.5) cm inches wider than the back.

I’m wearing  Size 5, cup 2, with approximately 2.75 inches / 7 cm of ease at the full bust. My upper chest measures 41.5 inches / 104 cm and my upper arm 13.5 inches / 34 cm.

This pattern includes instructions for knitting optional bust shaping in 4 sizes.
