PROVOCATION AS A MEANS OF DEFENSE TO CRIMINAL LIABILITY
Provocation on its own it not a total defense as to make the accused discharged of his guilt. It reduces murder to manslaughter. This research explores provocation as a legal defense in criminal law, focusing on its principles, applications, and limitations within the Nigerian judicial system. It examines how the defense of provocation can reduce criminal liability, particularly in cases of homicide by evaluating the emotional and psychological effects of sudden provocation on the accused person’s state of mind.
