APPRAISAL OF SUMMARY DISMISSAL UNDER NIGERIAN LABOUR LAW
This research critically examines the concept and practice of summary dismissal within the framework of Nigerian labour law. It explores the legal principles governing the immediate termination of employment without prior notice, identifying the circumstances that justify such actions and the rights of both employers and employees. The study analyzes relevant statutes, judicial decisions, and case studies to determine whether current legal provisions effectively protect workers from wrongful dismissal while balancing employers’ rights to discipline employees. Recommendations are made for improving fairness and compliance in employment termination procedures.
