This is a playtest version of a scenario that I am working on.

In July of 1781, Colonel David Fanning was raiding across the back country of North Carolina. Based out of Cox Mill, his men would ride along the Cape Fear River in search of prey. While vilified by many American sources during and shortly after the war, he is an intriguing partisan leader on the Loyalist side. Supported by regular troops of the 82nd Regiment of Foot out of Wilmington, NC, Fanning led many daring raids.

On the 29th of July, Fanning was able to lead a surprise attack on Colonel Philip Alston's plantation and captured the Colonel. This scenario covers that action.

The scenario features small number of forces and should be able to be played out quickly on the table top. It is recommended that a separate umpire is used who will provide any back ground to the players to allow for some surprises. The scenario begins on page 8.

The scenario gives a practical role to civilians caught in the crossfire. As in the actual battle, if things drag on too long, the civilians will bring the combat to an end.

This is just a playtest version of the scenario. Once it is complete, the price will increase but anyone who purchased the playtest version can download the final copy from here for free.
