Scarcity Survival
Scarcity Survival is an online resource management and decision making game where students must survive fifteen days with extremely limited energy while keeping three critical needs from collapsing. Each day players only receive five energy points, which they must divide between finding water, hunting food, and reinforcing shelter. Every action consumes energy, so it is impossible to do everything, forcing students to experience scarcity and tradeoffs in a concrete, visual way.
As the days progress, conditions get worse. Water, food, and shelter decay faster each night, and random crises like storms can suddenly destroy shelter. If any need hits zero, the game ends immediately. This creates constant pressure to prioritize which need matters most in the moment, mirroring the real economic problem of unlimited wants and limited resources.
You receive a doc with a game guide and a student worksheet with a link to the online game. Share the link with your students. If you are a teacher and are worried about the game being blocked by your school's server, contact us; there are two easy ways to make the game available besides the direct link.
