Lumi is a Finnish word for snow. It is also considered as female name here up North, where the snow on the ground light by the moon is all the light you get during darkest winter period.
Lumi shawl is a asymmetric triangle shawl worked from one tip towards opposite long edge. Lovely combination of easy garter stitch stripes and lace sections. The shawl is knitted holding one strand of fingering weight yarn held together with a strand of lace weight mohair. The lace section has both written and charted instruction.
Size: Wing span 170cm and 40cm measured from deepest point.
Yarn 1: Garnstudio DROPS Nord or similar (Sport, 45% Alpaca, 30% Manufactured Fibers, 25% Wool. 186 yards / 170 m = 50 g / 1.76 ounces.) held together with
Yarn 2: Filcolana Tilia or similar (Lace, 70% Mohair, 30% Silk. 230 yards / 210 m = 25 g / 0.88 ounces).
Yarn requirements: 3 skeins required of both yarns.
Needles: 4 mm/US6 circular needle, 60 cm /24 inches long
Gauge: 18 sts x 36 rows = 10cm of garter stitch
