Niila is a tiny forest spirit. She is the whisper of the trees during the windy day. She is the conifer needle which gently touches your shoulder and then continues her journey. She is the reason which makes you come back into the forest over and over again.
Niila is an asymmetric triangle shawl combining lace and seed stitch textures. The shawl is worked from one edge towards the tip, decreasing every row. So, opposite to many other shawls the number of stitches is decreasing as the shawl progresses.
Yarn:
4 skeins of Sports weight yarn, like ONION No.3 Organic wool + Nettles ( 70% wool, 30% other. 50g = 160m [175 yards]
Needles:
4mm / US6 circular needle, 100cm [25 inches] long
Size (after blocking):
The beginning edge is 110 cm [43 1/3 inches] wide.
The wing span is 162 cm [63 3/4 inches] wide and 75 cm 29 1/2 inches] deep.
Gauge (after blocking):
18 sts x 32 rows = 10cm [4 inches] of seed stitch.
One lace section is 12 cm [4 3/4 inches}] wide and 6.5 cm [2 1/2 inches] high.
