I was shivering when I arrived at work. Sue, my boss, looked at my thin jacket.
"Anni, you need a good coat," she said. She was wearing a thick red jacket. She looked wonderful. She always looked wonderful.
"I'm not really cold," I said. It wasn't true, but I didn't have the money for a new coat.
The Coat is a work of original fiction in 16 chapters, about Anni and her struggles for independence, love and a new future. Each chapter ends with a narrative hook – and be warned, many teachers say that students read ahead, in order to find out what happens!
The story is told in simple past tense and is aimed at adult and young adult learners.
Like the other ESL Extras reading books, The Coat includes:
(There's an 'Extra Information' page at the front with tips on any Australian situations/usage, plus what to do if you don't use A4 size paper.)
The Preview package offers sample pages you can trial with your learners, and explains the terms of use. if you decide to purchase, the eBook will be stamped with your email address in extremely tiny font at the top of the page. Please contact me on info@thebooknextdoor.com if you have any queries!
