She frowned a little. "George, I have some news, but it's confidential. Do you understand?"
"I understand confidential," I said. "Private. Don't tell anyone. I won't tell anyone."
"Good," she said.
Can You Keep a Secret? is a original fiction story about about George and his family, told in 16 chapters. It's in simple past tense, to suit learners at elementary/post-beginner level. While it is aimed at adult learners, there are younger characters included.
Like all the ESL Extras reading books, the book contains:
- the illustrated story (which can be photocopied or shared online)
- a page of notes for each chapter, for teachers or tutors
- exercises and answers (4 pages for every two chapters)
- a 'board game'.
(There's an 'Extra Information' page at the front with tips on any Australian situations/usage, plus what to do if you don't use A4 size paper.)
The next story to read in the ESL Extras series is The Coat.
