Sweet Sue, Just You
Here's my transcription of Fats' piano intro and solo of Sweet Sue, Just You from his Associated Transcription recording session from 1935.
An intimate, cabaret-style performance where Fats' piano playing can be heard up close and personal. Certainly no need for a bass and drums accompaniment here!
Never just satisfied with two/three note left-hand tenths, note his huge 4-note tenth chords in the left hand.
Also, note the boogie-style bass line early at the start despite Fats' insistence of "No mention of "Boogie Woogie" in advertising or billing." in his contract.
