Walk in Philadelphia # 9, art, culture & history in Fairmont
This self-guided walk takes you north of the city center, leading you along its "Champs-Élysées" and then alongside the Schuylkill River.
You will then explore quiet neighborhoods dotted with numerous restaurants and pass by a truly unique landmark.
Finally—if you happen to visit on the right day—you can catch a glimpse of how the wealthiest man in the United States lived back in the 1820s.
The goal here is not to visit every single museum along the route—for which a single day would certainly not suffice—but rather to stroll through beautiful surroundings for about two hours/3 miles, assuming you limit yourself to sightseeing and taking photos.
That said, if you read through the PDF before setting out, you can decide in advance where you’d like to stop; this will allow you to better plan how much time you wish to spend on this walk.
NB: if you have not already done so on another site, you can read the philosophy and general content of this itinerary by opening the “About the walks” link above or below.
