Plane and Cirrus

Shot in Budleigh Salterton, this vibrant blue sky scene is peppered with wisps of high-altitude cirrus clouds, cirrostratus, and cirrocumulus. In addition, coming into the scene at the top is a high-altitude plane and its contrail adding to the light screen of cloud.

You have an array of deep and mid sky blues contrasting against the whites of the clouds. The dark line underneath the plane in the middle of the shot is in fact the contrail’s shadow, being cast from the sun above onto the layer of cloud underneath.
