TOTESY - Pattern for a smart-looking tote in two sizes

TOTESY is smart-looking, quick-to-make and not quite a handbag but not just a tote. TOTESY pattern includes two sizes, CUTIE and BEAUTY. Dress it up or chill it out and both are so quick to make that you might want to make a few.

FEATURES:

• TOTESY’s exterior includes a main feature panel and contrasting side panels and a large zippered pocket for phone, keys, or slim wallet.
• A folded bottom structure results in attractive side triangles that are not just a pretty detail: these triangles give TOTESY extra structure so it sits up with a minimum of stabilizers.
• Webbing straps wrap around the bottom giving the tote a sort-of-almost-magic surprise detail that also adds to the stability.
• Webbing handles are secured to D-rings at the top of the wrap-around straps and the 12” (30.5 cm) drop means they are long enough to carry over the shoulder.
• The top is secured with a shiny bit of hardware - a 7-1/2” (19 cm) open-end bar closure.
• A firm bottom with bag feet is added for heavier loads.
• On the inside, TOTESY is fully lined and includes a false piped, divided slip pocket for phone and pen plus a zippered pocket.
• The zippered pocket is made with BAGETTES’ trademark easy and professional-looking construction.
• TOTESY can be made from a variety of fabrics - light-weight canvas or upholstery fabrics, outdoor fabrics or quilting-weight cotton with heavier interfacing.
• Use colour blocking for a great effect or feature a print in the centre panel; a non-directional print is recommended.
• The lining is designed for quilting-weight cotton. All straps and handles are made from webbing.

PATTERN INCLUDES:
Extensive detail and lots of diagrams for the visual or beginning bag maker.
All construction is suitable for a domestic sewing machine.
TOTESY has measured pattern pieces so use a quilting cutting guide and a rotary cutter for quick and accurate pieces.

CUTIE:1/4 yard (0.25 metre)
BEAUTY: 1/3 yard (0.3 metre)
Contrasting sides
CUTIE: 1/4 yard (0.25 metre)
BEAUTY: 1/4 yard (0.25 metre) slightly more if fabric needs straightening

Lining
CUTIE: 2/3 yard (0.6 m.)
BEAUTY: 3/4 yard (0.7 m)

Interfacing
CUTIE:
1-1/4 yards (1.2 m) woven such as Pellon 101
1 - 9“ x 2”(23 cm x 5 cm) piece of firm non-woven interfacing (Pellon 809) for zippered pocket facing
8” x 3-3/4”( 20 cm x 9.5 cm) from Coreflute.
7-1/2” x 4” (19 cm x 10 cm) fusible Peltex or equivalent.
BEAUTY:
1-1/2 yards (1.3 m) woven such as Pellon 101
1 - 10“ x 2”(23 cm x 5 cm) piece of firm non-woven interfacing (Pellon 809) for zippered pocket facing
9” x 3-3/4”( 23 cm x 14.5 cm) from Coreflute.
8-1/2” x 4” (21 cm x 10 cm) fusible Peltex or equivalent.
NOTE: Zipper lengths are from top stop to bottom stop. 

Webbing
CUTIE: 3-1/4 yards (2.9 m.) for 12” drop
BEAUTY: 3-1/2 yards (3 m.) for 12” drop

Hardware

• 4 - 1” (2.5 cm) D-rings
• 1 - 7-1/2” (19 cm) bar lock wallet closure. Must be open on the ends.
• 4 bag feet
• 8 to 16 Rivets for STRAPS and HANDLES.

CUTIE :
1 - 9” (23 cm) #4.5 OR #5 coil zipper for exterior zippered pocket or equivalent zipper by the yard. Zipper tape should be 1-1/4” (3.1 cm) wide.
1 - 9” (23 cm) #3 coil zipper for interior zippered pocket. 
Zippers measured from top stops to bottom stop.

BEAUTY:
1 - 10” (25 cm) #4.5 OR #5 coil zipper for exterior zippered pocket or equivalent zipper by the yard. Zipper tape should be 1-1/4” (3.1 cm) wide. 
1 - 10” (23 cm) #3 coil zipper for interior zippered pocket.
Zippers measured from top stops to bottom stop.
