Knowing the answer to "Tell me about yourself" is only half the interview. The other half is when to sit down, where to look, what to do with your hands, and how to get through a question you did not expect. This set covers that half, in 24 small steps from the doorway to the exit.

Every card has one step and one clear picture. The set comes in three levels, with a Ways to Look page that gives students real options for eye contact, a list of questions they can ask, 12 practice questions, and a sentence starter bank to use while practicing.

A lot of what I teach is how to stay steady when your heart is racing. The "pause and think" card and the What If? page both come from that work.

What's included:

• 24 sequence cards at Level A (picture + 1 to 3 words)

• 24 sequence cards at Level B (picture + short sentence + a "Stuck?" backup line)

• Ways to Look page (four real choices for eye contact)

• Questions I Can Ask page

• 12 practice questions

• Sentence starter bank

• Level C independent checklist

• One page visual checklist

• What If? page with 6 situations

• First/Then board and check off strips

• Student self check

• Teacher and parent page with a fading guide and an IEP goal idea

• Data sheet for mock and real interviews

How I use it:

I borrow a staff member the student does not know and run short mock interviews, working on one phase at a time. For a bigger question set and a scoring rubric, I pair this with my Job Interview Practice | 36 Question Cards + Mock Interview Rubric | SPED.

How this is different from my other interview products: Job Interview Practice | 36 Question Cards + Mock Interview Rubric | SPED and Digital Job Interview Practice: PowerPoint with Self Check for Teens are question practice. This set is the behavior sequence: how to act in the room. The 12 questions here are only for practicing the steps. The What If? page includes a line for a question a student would rather not answer; it is not legal advice, and it points to my Disability Disclosure Decision Guide | Work + College for Transition Students for disclosure decisions.

Who it is for: high school special education, transition programs for ages 18 to 21, vocational and work based learning teams, and families. Grades 9 to 12 and adult transition.

What you download: one printable PDF, 19 pages, US Letter.
