Scungilli
Scungilli by Pete Gambino
Synopsis: It’s Christmas Eve in Philly, and Dominic Scungilli has meticulously planned an abundant Seven Fishes Feast. Since it’s his first time undertaking the important holiday tradition, nothing–not even the napkins–can be too elaborate. But after he burns the smelts, forgets to salt the baccalá, and his octopus is swiped by a pair of city skunks, it’ll take a miracle for Dom to get any dinner on the table at all. Thankfully, a fresh Scungilli salad awaits in the fridge–and what could go wrong when a bowl of chewy snails tossed with fennel is involved? Find out in this heart-warming comedy about how food helps one Italian-American family connect to its history and to each other.
