[SPH] MP-18
The MP-18 is a German submachine gun developed during World War I, widely regarded as the first practical submachine gun used in combat. Designed by Hugo Schmeisser and introduced in 1918, it is chambered in 9×19mm Parabellum and feeds from a 32-round TM 08 drum magazine, originally designed for the Luger P08 pistol. The weapon features a 200mm barrel, an overall length of 815mm, and weighs approximately 4.2 kg unloaded. It operates on a simple blowback system and fires in fully automatic mode at a rate of 450–550 rounds per minute.
The MP-18 was first issued to German Sturmtruppen in 1918, proving highly effective in close-quarters combat and trench warfare. Although its use was limited by the war’s end, it influenced nearly all subsequent submachine gun designs, including the MP 28, Sten, and Thompson SMG. Post-war restrictions under the Treaty of Versailles limited its production, but modified versions continued to see service in conflicts throughout the 1920s and 1930s, with some even used during World War II.
