Mongsanpo

Dramatic 4×6 inch gouache painting of a blazing summer sunset at Mongsanpo Beach in Taean County, South Korea. As I strolled slowly in bare feet on the smooth sand, I was struck by how hot the seawater was. Bathers had to swim a bit of a ways from the shore to cool themselves down. The stark contrast between the gray clouds in the sky that gave no reprieve from the heat and unforgivingly hot yellows and orange tones compelled me to complete this piece.
