A new baby comes with a surprising amount of paperwork. This planner keeps all of it in one place: registering the birth, claiming Child Benefit, planning leave and pay, comparing childcare, setting a baby budget and telling the right people. It's easy to pick up where you left off.

It's a 26-page fillable PDF written for the UK. It covers the admin only. Type into it on screen, or print it and write by hand.

What's inside (26 A4 pages in colour-coded sections)

  • Before you start, and a linked contents page
  • At a glance: your baby's details, both parents' details and the reference numbers you'll be asked for
  • Admin timeline over 2 pages: before the birth, the first few weeks, the first few months and before going back to work, with who's doing each job

  • Adding your baby to things: GP practice, bank, savings, insurance, pension nominations and more
  • Baby's passport: an application tracker, if you'll travel

What you'll download

  • UK-New-Baby-Admin-Planner_LifeAdminDeskStudio.pdf (PDF, 26 pages)

How it works

  • Digital download. Nothing physical is posted.
  • Straight after you pay, you'll be taken to your download page, and you'll also get an email with your download link.
  • Type into the fields and tick boxes using a PDF app that supports forms, such as the free Adobe Acrobat Reader, then save. Or print it on A4 at home and write by hand.
  • Some browser and phone PDF viewers don't save form entries. If that happens, use Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  • Undated, so you can start before the birth or after.
  • The images show made-up example entries. You get a blank planner.
  • A4 size. It will print on US Letter if you choose "fit to page", but it's written for the UK.

Written for the UK

UK terms and spelling throughout. Rules, rates, thresholds and deadlines change, and some are different in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. So the planner doesn't print rates or fees. It points you to gov.uk, mygov.scot and nidirect, and gives you space to write down what you checked and when.

Please note

This is an admin planner. It doesn't give medical, health, feeding or sleep advice. For questions about your health or your baby's, speak to your midwife, health visitor or GP, or call NHS 111. In an emergency, call 999. It isn't legal, tax or financial advice either. For wills, guardianship or insurance, speak to a solicitor or a regulated adviser.

How this was made

I designed this planner and chose its contents. AI tools were used to help draft some of the wording and to help build the PDF layout. Every page has been checked and the fillable fields tested before release. There are no AI-generated photos or illustrations.

Digital download and cancellations

This is digital content, available to download straight after purchase. At checkout, you'll be asked to agree that the download can start immediately and to acknowledge that you then lose your 14-day right to cancel under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations. If a file is faulty or won't open, email lifeadmindesk@gmail.com and I'll put it right.
