The Garden Sprout Shawl is part of the Botanic Park Collection - 3 crescent shaped shawls all inspired by gardening, and featuring yarns by Australian independent dyers. The other 2 shawls in the collection are the Bush Wattle Shawl and Trelliswork Shawl.

Garden Sprout was inspired by the pattering of rain falling on the ground in winter and the new seedlings that then rise from the ground in spring. You’ll find the geometric lace and garter stitch features of this shawl make it a perfect project for tonal, speckled and even lightly variegated yarns!

FINISHED DIMENSIONS
Approximately 148cm (58 ¼”) wide and 45cm (17 ¾”) at deepest point (not including bobble border), relaxed after blocking.

YARN
Skein Merino Silk Sport (50% Merino, 50% silk; 332m {363yds}/95g), 2 skeins Arabian Nights colourway, or 150–200g light sport or heavy fingering weight yarn. Sample used approximately 528m (577yds)/151g.

If your chosen yarn has a higher yardage to weight ratio (i.e. is a thinner yarn), you may find you only require 150g or less to complete this shawl.

Small amount of waste yarn for provisional cast on

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
– 4mm (US 6) and 4.5mm (US 7) circular needles, or size to obtain gauge and a needle size smaller (150cm {60”} cable lengths recommended)
