RMS St. Helena, South Atlantic Mailship

This e-book book covers the author’s experiences as radio officer aboard the passenger liners RMS St. Helena (I) and RMS St. Helena (II) between the years 1979 and 1992.

94 colour photographs,  124 black & white photographs.

These ships carried the Royal Mail, passengers and general cargo from the UK and South Africa to the remote British colony of St. Helena, a tiny island in the South Atlantic Ocean.

RMS St. Helena (I) was requisitioned by the Ministry of Defence to serve as a minehunter support ship during the Falklands  conflict in 1982/83.     She was replaced in 1990 by a much larger vessel of the same name, in which the author served his final two years at sea.
