Working with relationships and families doesn’t need to be overwhelming and stressful! This is the training series for those who are ready to approach relational psychotherapy with confidence. Even if you're working strictly with individual clients, you'll be able to use these skills to craft conversations about how to address verbal arguments at home.

Nearly every therapist has sat down to work with couples that bicker, make ugly comments back and forth, argue, and get in verbal fights. New therapists often dread the inevitable arguments and verbal explosions that sometimes happen in session, as they begin to witness some of the ways in which communication falls apart when our clients are outside of session. Therapists are uniquely positioned to help our clients skills gain skills for rewiring their brains away from reactivity and toward peaceful, effective, mutual calm, and trusting communication patterns. This workshop will help prepare participants to guide non-abusive couples toward the kind of conversations that yield lasting connection, build trust and closeness, and actually create positive change from conflict.

It is not necessary to take Boundaries 101 and 201 workshops first, but those who have will likely get added benefit from this workshop.

Orion Neustifter (they/them), PhD, RP, and RMFT from Ontario, Canada shows participants how to help clients escape the patterns of defensiveness, quick verbal escalation, relationship overwhelm, and verbal aggressiveness that impact so many relationships. This training comes from a position of community and interconnection, because better communication for healthier conflict resolution is also an important avenue for decolonization inside the therapy room and beyond.

This training includes access to the recording of the live online workshop, pdf copies of all worksheets/handouts to help you use the techniques you’ve just learned, and a pdf copy of the slide presentation. Each registration comes with the ability to access files twice through this page; you can log in here or use the information emailed to you (be sure to check your spam).
