A sub can't read a 30 page IEP before first hour. A new para can't either. They can read a two page profile that says what this kid looks like when things start going sideways, what helps, and what makes it worse.

What's included:

• Snapshot: strengths, trusted adults, best calm spot, how the student communicates when upset

• A heat table for this student: what Cool, Warm, Hot, and settling look like for them, what helps, and what makes it worse

• Triggers and patterns, including fast heaters and kids who go quiet instead of loud

• How to reconnect afterward with this particular kid

• Contacts table and review date

How I'd use it:

Fill it in with the people who know the student best, including the family when you can. Keep it confidential and put a copy in the sub folder and the para binder. Update it after any big moment. The editable Word file is included so you can type it.

Write it in plain words a sub would understand. "Gets quiet and pulls her hood up" is useful. "Becomes dysregulated" is not.

Who it's for: Teachers, paras, and administrators. Any grade level.

What you download: one printable PDF, 2 pages, US Letter, plus an editable Word file so you can type in it.

This is an educational resource. It does not replace your school's crisis plan, safety procedures, or any training your district requires.
