Print & assembly instructions — 1‑page 8‑frame mini zine
- Print the PDF on A4 or US Letter paper, single‑sided, at 100% scale (no fit‑to‑page). Use the paper stock you prefer (80–160 gsm recommended).
- Trim the border with scissors or a paper cutter so only the printed image remains.
- Place the printed page portrait‑orientation on a flat surface with the printed side facing up.
- Fold the sheet in half widthwise (hot dog fold) so the top edge meets the bottom edge; crease firmly and reopen.
- Fold the sheet in half the other way (hamburger fold) so the left edge meets the right edge; crease firmly and reopen. You now have four panels.
- Fold the left and right edges to the centercrease (book fold) so the edges meet at the center; crease firmly and keep closed.
- With the short edge (top or bottom) facing you, use a straightedge and scissors (or a craft knife) to cut a slit along the centerfold:
- Open the sheet back to the single hot‑dog fold (step 3 fold).
- Cut along the center crease from the folded edge to the middle of the sheet (about halfway). Stop at the existing perpendicular crease.
- This creates a slit that allows the zine to collapse into pages.
- Re‑fold following step 3 (hot dog fold) and then collapse the booklet by pushing the cut edges together so it pops into an 8‑page mini booklet. Flatten and align pages, then crease firmly.
- Optional: Trim the outer edges slightly for edge‑to‑edge printing or to neaten the booklet.
Tips:
- Score fold lines lightly before folding for cleaner creases.
- Use a bone folder or the edge of a credit card for crisp creases.
- Print a test copy on plain paper to verify alignment before final printing.
