I think about light, mostly. The kind that lands softly on countertops, slides down the edge of a mug, and lingers on the cat outside, - now curled up in the one sunbeam it didn’t earn.
At 1am, the brain becomes a thrift store. Everything falls off shelves. Old conversations. People you were almost in love with. Texts you should not reread but absolutely will. The soul loosens its buttons a little.

I don’t notice at first—why would I?—until I realize my coffee cup is empty, my laptop has shifted two inches to the left, and my shadow is nowhere to be seen.
