Welcome to Mum Beside Her 🤍
I’m a mum of two, and my journey with eating disorders is deeply personal.
As a teenager, I experienced an eating disorder myself. After a difficult journey, I fully recovered and moved forward with my life. Years later, I never imagined I would find myself facing this world again — this time as a mum.
Recently, my daughter was diagnosed with an eating disorder, and our family has once again entered a challenging and emotional chapter. Experiencing an eating disorder from both perspectives — first as a young person and now as a mother supporting her daughter — has given me a unique understanding of just how difficult, confusing and lonely this journey can sometimes feel.
I created Mum Beside Her because I want other mums to know that they don’t have to navigate these feelings alone.
Here I share my personal experiences, reflections, practical ideas and gentle encouragement for mums supporting their daughters through eating disorder recovery. My aim is to create a compassionate, judgement-free space where we can support one another through the difficult days and recognise the small steps forward too.
I’m not a medical professional, and my content is not a replacement for professional treatment or advice. I’m simply a mum sharing what I’ve learned through lived experience — both from recovery myself and from now standing beside my daughter.
From one mum beside her, to another. 🤍
