RETREAT BACKPACK is a very functional backpack that can be dressed up for the City and is named after its cousin the Retreat Bag by Emmaline Bags and uses their internal B-Frame.

Finished Size: 12”L x 13.5”H x 6”W (30.5 cm L x 34.3 cm H x 15.2 cm W)

FEATURES:

• A top that opens wide and stays that way so that you can get to all your stuff
• A front zippered pouch pocket on the front
• A long zippered pocket on the back
• Both a divided slip pocket and a zippered pocket inside
• Great for everyday activities with potential as a diaper bag, a gym bag or a camera bag
• Can be made successfully with quilting cotton, canvas or coated fabric, linen, denim, or waxed canvas
• Designed using Emmaline Bags internal B -Frame or equivalent 10” x 3-3/4” frame
• Uses webbing for the straps and handles
• Ends of straps and handles are covered with raw edge vinyl, leather or cork making the construction much less bulky to sew compared to using multiple layers of fabric.

• Both drafted pattern pieces and measured pieces
• Optional “Puddle Protector” described in TRY THIS at the end of the pattern
• Written with lots of detail for the beginning bag maker
• Cutting chart and identification tags for labelling the cut pieces
• Partner this pattern with the optional POCKET ADD-ON pattern for more variety
• Appeals to the experienced bag maker as it is easily taken up a notch with fabric choices and options.
• All construction is suitable for a domestic sewing machine . If choosing thicker fabrics, consider reducing the interfacing and/or fusible fleece for a less stiff construction.

3/4 yard (70 cm) of 42” (107 cm) wide quilting cotton, linen, or denim.

Lining
1 yard (90 cm) quilting cotton

3 1/2 yards (320cm) 1” (2.5 cm) webbing
4.5”x 3” (11.4 cm x 7.6 cm) scrap of vinyl, leather or cork

Interfacing
4 yards (3.6 meters) 20“ (51 cm) wide fusible woven interfacing (e.g., Pellon Shape Flex SF101)
1/2 yard (45 cm) Pellon 987F Fusible Fleece
1 piece - 5-3/4” x 11-1/2“ (13.6 cm x 29.2 cm) firm stabilizer (e.g., Peltex, plastic grid, core flute)

Handware
