Surf is worked in a delicate lace pattern with a dramatic edge, perfect for showing off your self-striping, gradient, or tonal yarns. The simple, stockinette-based lace creates little waves in the fabric while the bold edging keeps the knitting interesting.

The asymmetrical triangle shape is created by increasing two stitches at the beginning of each right-side row and decreasing one stitch at the end, before the marker. The edge pattern is a four row repeat that increases 3 stitches on the first row and binds off those 3 stitches on the fourth row. A variation of the edge pattern is worked over the last twelve rows and finishes the shawl.
