Remove GREP styles with optional character style conversion

GREP Style Remover is an Adobe InDesign script that removes GREP styles from paragraph styles. Cleaning out GREP styles by hand means opening each paragraph style, stepping through its nested GREP styles, and deleting them one at a time — tedious across a large style sheet. This script does it in bulk, from a single palette, with safeguards for the formatting that depends on those GREP styles.

It offers three operation modes (Selected, All, and All except selected), a paragraph-style picker that can target one or several styles, and a per-style filter for removing only the GREP styles you choose. Two options protect dependent formatting: GREP styles can be copied down to inheriting child styles before removal, and they can be converted to local character styles so the visible formatting survives.
