Introducing the “LC 1” Backpack!

When my seven year old son's backpack began falling apart in the middle of the school year, I tool the opportunity to draft a new one just for him! It needed to be waterproof, big enough for normal sized folders and notebooks (and snacks and lunchbox and... you get the point - it needed to be big), and at the same time, he's just a little guy so it needed to be lightweight.

With those requirements in mind, I made a good sized backpack that used entirely waterproof canvas and fit everything that needed to go in there! Since then, myself and my pattern testers have made several other versions using materials ranging from waterproof canvas and cotton to vinyl and even cork.

This backpack is extremely versatile and customizable, with the following features:

• 16” tall X 12 1/2” wide X 5 1/2” deep
• One exterior zipper pocket
• 2 elastic water bottle pockets that can be placed on the interior or exterior
• One large interior slip pocket
• Padded adjustable backpack straps
• A carry handle
• Large feature panel on the front for you to customize with anything from embroidery to a special fabric panel, to a vinyl decal!

Of course, an accompanying video tutorial is forthcoming on my YouTube Channel, so please don't forget to head over there and subscribe so you can be notified when the tutorial posts:
