Materials list is as follows:
- Exterior vinyl (suggested) or cotton fabric (1/2 yard for the small OR ¾ yard for the large) *Note: This is assuming your vinyl comes in at least a “44 inch wide” yard. Vinyl is sold many different ways. If what you have isn’t a 44” wide yard (one yard = 36", so if you order a 44" wide yard of something, you should have a piece that is 36" X 44"), you may have to adjust how many yards you purchase. Also, this amount will be enough for a strap, but not a long, continuous, crossbody strap. Based on your strap preferences, you may need more yardage. **Also Note: This bag does well with vinyl or fabric interfaced in such a way that it is stiff enough to keep its shape. If using thin or really soft vinyl or fabric, consider using a stabilizer like decovil light or similar for structure.
- Interfacing per above note if you are using fabric
- Interior waterproof canvas (3/4 yard for small OR 1 yard for large - also can be cotton fabric with stiff interfacing such as Pellon 809)
- One piece of heavy stabilizer approximately 8 inches X 10 inches
- Small scraps of heavy stabilizer for snap backing (you'll have some left to use from above)
- 3 magnetic snaps - 18mm - I don't recommend anything smaller.
- 2 one inch D rings
- 2 one inch swivel clips (if you are choosing to make a strap, rather than using a chain)
- Zipper - (and zipper pull) - if using zipper by the yard, you'll need to cut an 8" zipper for the small or a 10" for the large. If purchasing individual zippers, they come in standard sizes - you can purchase a 9" for the small and a 12" for the large and cut them to size. You can use a number 3 or number 5 zipper.
- Optional rivets for top handle
- Thread
- Sewing machine and needles
- Scissors
- Seam ripper
- Wonder clips (also the longer duckbill style hair clips are very helpful)
- Rulers and cutting board
- Leather tape (optional but very helpful if your machine can handle it)
