Ushi Ga Kubi — Printable Hand-Painted Artwork
When I first traveled to Japan, I had this crazy dream of climbing a still-smoking volcano, and I got my chance when we visited Nasu-Kogen in Tochigi Prefecture. Mt. Nasu stands a towering 1,916.9 m (6,289 ft), way too tall for us to hike up on our own. Fortunately the ropeway got us pretty close to the top. We hiked for about an hour near the summit, past gigantic projectiles and lava bombs, steaming fumaroles, the clouds of smelly sulfur they billowed filling our noses. Here at Ushi-Ga-Kubi was our turnaround point and it was such a rush there up on that volcano seeing the steam rolling down the slope from the peak. Mt. Nasu is still active, and this 4x6 postcard-sized impressionistic painting brings the power of Japan’s geological soul to any space. Download and enjoy this dynamic painting today!
