TME Advanced Softball – Complete Years 7–9 Scheme of Learning

Introduce pupils to the technical and tactical demands of softball with 14 progressive lessons designed for Years 7–9. Pupils develop throwing, catching, batting, pitching, fielding ground balls, catching fly balls and effective base running.

The scheme supports pupils in understanding force plays, tagging, fielding responsibilities, batting order, positional play and game strategy. Conditioned activities gradually increase pressure and complexity, allowing pupils to apply techniques safely and purposefully.

Each lesson includes detailed set-up guidance, field dimensions, equipment, timings, technical cues and explicit bat-safety procedures. Visual infographics, STEP differentiation, SEND and EAL support, Assessment for Learning, Head–Heart–Hands assessment and officiating roles are included. Structured metacognition and oracy activities encourage pupils to evaluate decisions, communicate tactics and use performance evidence to improve.
