June Socks 2026

June...space month, obviously? No, well I have my local yarn shop to blame for this design. They have a space themed window so I thought I’d join in with this planet inspired top down sock

Knitting from the top down, a heel flap and ending with a round toe these are based on my basic sock pattern so are

super easy to follow. You will need to be able to follow a chart for the planet colourwork. Written in three circumference sizes just follow Small (S), Medium (M) or Large (L) throughout the pattern.

Materials Needed

4ply (fingering) weight sock in small 20g quantities for each planet – blue for Neptune, light blue for Uranus, a pale beige and yellow for Saturn, a brown mix with white for Saturn, red for Mars, green and blue for Earth, yellow or beige for Venus and a brown/grey for Mercury. Yellow for the sun and a background colour either black or dark navy approximately 60 to 70g in total

Needles: Four 2.5mm double pointed needles

Three moveable stitch markers, sewing up needle for grafting and scissors
