Noteworthy Kit (shipping starts May 17)

Kits start shipping May 17

Anybody want to knit some notebook paper? I mean it sounds like a strange question, but I have it on good authority that some of you really, really, really do. Because wow is it cute. The thing is, some of that cute comes from bits you might not have on hand. So on the off chance you want to do this without embarking on a scavenger hunt, I'm doing kits. You've got two options!

Option 1: Just the bits!

This option includes the pattern plus all the bits you might not have on hand. Specifically:

  • A grommet kit with about 500 grommets (in 10 colors, about 50 per color), hole punch, and grommet setting tool — Each sheet of paper takes 6 grommets, so this is way more grommets than you're going to need. That said, some colors are better suited for this project than others. I especially like the white and blue ones for this, so even if you just use those two you'll have plenty for more than a dozen sheets. You will need a hammer to set the grommets (that's not in the kit).
  • Four internal flex frame clasps (two about 3.25 inches across, two about 4.5 inches across) — These are also called kiss clasps. I think of them as the pinchy tops on grandma's coin purse. Put one of these at the top of your paper and now it's a pouch you can open and close.
  • A sheet of plastic embroidery canvas (about 10 inches by 6 inches) — Trim this down to size, tuck it inside your knitting, and now your paper is both stiff and perforated. Meaning it's perfect for storing and showing off things like pins or earrings. Depending on the size of your knitting, you've got plenty of canvas to make two or three sheets of paper.
  • Four skeins of DMC embroidery floss — I'll send you three blues and one red (all a good match for the lines on actual notebook paper, but having different blues lets you pick whichever one you like best with your yarn). Depending on how big your paper is and how many strands of floss you use for your embroidery, this should be more than enough for somewhere around 9 sheets of paper. (My paper is around 4-5 inches wide and I easily did three or four sheets of paper per skein of blue floss, and you use far less red than you do blue.)
  • A Tiny Nonsense zippered pouch — These are brand new, I love them with my whole heart, and the kits are the only place to get them!
  • The digital pattern — It'll show up it in your Ravelry library when it comes out (right around when the kits ship). Don't worry, I'll also have a way for you to get it on payhip or gift it to a friend if you prefer that!
  • Shipping within the US — The price includes free shipping within the US. Canadian folks, it costs me about $35 to send you a box. I'll do it if you want, but I do have to charge for shipping (and I need to send you two slightly smaller sheets of the embroidery canvas instead of one larger one, otherwise the postage doubles, and that's just silly). Alas, the rules on physical products going into the EU mean I cannot sell there at all.

Option 2: Bits and Yarn!

This includes everything in the Just the Bits option plus a 50 gram skein of Little Skein Anne's awesome yarn in a custom colorway made just for us! Because this project is so flexible (you can make the paper pretty much any size you want), I can't say exactly how many pieces of paper you can make with a given amount of yarn. But I can tell you that my pieces are around 4-5 inches wide and they took about 12 grams of yarn each, so I'd have been able to get at least four.

Again, I must emphasize that kits will start shipping on May 17 (so it's still going to be about two weeks till they start arriving)! Never fear, the pattern will also be available on its own (a few days after the kits ship).
