Ship Plan Series Issue 8
Published Thursday, 31st March, 2022
British tramp steamer Baron Vernon - 1929
This 22-page download contains general arrangement, profile and lines plans for the Baron Vernon, of 1929. Sister ships Baron Napier, Baron Erskine, and Baron Ramsey.
The plans are scaled to 25 feet to 1 inch (1/300), this has necessitated them being in two halves, but as there are alignment markings on the pages, it is a simple matter to print each half of the plans and paste them together. The complete plan when cut and pasted, has a hull length of about 14 1/2 inches.
The download contains 1,854 words, and 19 images.
Although the total page count is 22, the 8 plan pages do not have any text on the back.
This download does NOT contain any model shipbuilding information.
Links in the download to our complete download catalogue will work, as long as you are connected to the Internet when you click on them!
Many of the downloads contain comprehensive instructions on how to build miniature modeo ships with a minimum amount of tools, using many special techniques that make things a lot easier than normal ship modelling.
Another enormous advantage is the fact that they can be built at very little cost, and you are not limited to whatever kit manufacturers want you to build.
Without a doubt, the biggest obstacle to successful miniature shipbuilding is the thought "I could never do that!"

Desk Top Cargo Ship “Little Gems”

Decided to try making the “desk top” cargo ship models for some friends, and myself, after seeing the impressive models by Robert A Wilson. A quick search online found his excellent drawing packages and decided five (5) models would help my recent interest in cargo ships and coaster cargo ships from around the 1920s to 1960s.

I could not have been more pleased with the drawings and build tips for these little treasures. Of course your scale sizing is entirely up to your own preferences.

Looking forward to many hours of enjoyment building these little gems for gifts to friends who always ask about my wooden schooner sailing ships but would rather have a smaller more “current” ship models. Also this will give me build experience for the cargo passenger ships that have also captured my attention.

Many thanks to Robert A Wilson.
