The Vancouver Fog shawl was inspired by my winter trip to Vancouver. The design and color theme reflect the majestic and almost surreal beauty of the waterfront skyscrapers at dusk.

The shawl is worked on the bias from the top with a few cast-on stitches. The slightly curved shape of this asymmetrical triangular shawl is the result of the different tensions of the stitch patterns between the selvage stitches and the body garter and lace stitch patterns of the shawl. The picot edging adds a romantic touch to this accessory.

The shawl is knit in two colors with fingering weight yarn. One of the unique features of this design is the shawl's edge stitches, which are worked in a two-tone pattern. When changing the color of the stripes, the unused yarn is not cut or carried over to the next section, but is used in the selvage stitches.

Suggested Yarn

Fingering or fine fingering weight yarn in 2 contrast colours.
The sample is knit in knitpicks Capretta. I used 2 balls in MC and 1 ball in CC.
