Frosted is a crescent-shaped shawl with simple stitch patterns and intuitive shaping. It is worked on the bias, starting at the tip of the shawl with a few cast-on stitches, and is finished with spaced picots along the bind-off edge at the opposite side. The shaping is done with simultaneous increases along one side and partial bind-offs at the opposite side of the knitted fabric, gradually increasing the total number of stitches as you progress. The curved, almost swirling shape, occurs naturally as a result of the different stitch patterns’ tensions.

The shawl can be knit in two different yarn weights. In samples, the stripes of garter stitch pattern are knit in thicker yarns and the lace mesh stitch pattern stripes are worked with finer weight yarns. The outer edge of the shawl can be finished with either picots or a fringe.

Another unique feature of this design are selvage stitches that are worked in a specific way to make a uniform and neat-looking edge and eliminate the need of cutting the non-working strands of yarn or carrying them along the edge.
