Junction Jeopardy is a mini-campaign scenario is the first in a forthcoming series of Coffee Break Campaigns (see below).

Junctions have been crucial both tactically and strategically ever since the dawn of warfare. Whether it be the ancient Plain of Megiddo, Mortimer’s Cross, Quatre Bras, Chancellorsville or, indeed, The Battle of Heartbreak Crossroads in 1944, the point at which major thoroughfares meet will always be significant.

For the wargamer, then, a game or series of games centred around the domination of a crossroads has appeal, regardless of the setting. Moreover, it presents some unique challenges, since there are likely to be significant variations in terrain around the key point, which might demand a great deal of tactical (and sometimes strategic) nous.

This mini-campaign scenario can be used not only by historical gamers, but also by fans of fantasy or sci-fi gaming, roleplayers and more, and numbers don't matter either – the setting can be used by a group of adventurers, feuding gangs of post-apocalyptic warriors, a wary platoon of special forces in a hot climate or a newly-arrived squad of Space Marines as readily as a company of the 95th Rifles in the Peninsula, the 24th Foot in Zululand or Rommel's 7th Division charging through France in 1940. All you need is a bit of imagination and the willingness to adapt!

Coffee Break Campaigns comprises a range of easy-to-play mini-campaign scenarios that can be adapted to many different periods and genres, regardless of the tactical rulesets or size of miniatures that you prefer to use. The hard copies available from Amazon are pitched at a price roughly equivalent to what you would expect to pay for a coffee and a pastry in a modern town centre cafe (and, as you can see, the PDFs cost even less), making them affordable for the vast majority of wargamers, the aim being to encourage as many players as possible to engage with the idea of playing fun and satisfying campaigns, rather than just one-off games. As well as the text, maps and images, these booklets deliberately include space to add your own notes, observations and comments so that the campaigns truly become yours.
