- Notes from the Artist: This image stirs me to remember why I fell in love with photography. When I decided to purchase a drone, I made a goal to attempt to fly it in all 50 states and as many counties as possible. In California, in the company of my husband and best friend, I was searching for areas where I could legally use the drone and finding it very challenging. Finally, just as I was about to give up, I found this spot on the beach. While flying the drone over this stretch of coastline, a surfer with a pink board got out of the water, calling it a day and began to walk up the shore! It was the perfect moment of capture. I knew it would be one of my favorite images. This image is so meaningful to me. It is a reminder that patience, persistence, and a little bit of luck often lead to the most magical of shots, and that adventures are even sweeter when shared with the people you love.
