*Please note, this is a PDF pattern suitable to be printed at home or printshop and not a physical pattern*

The Riviera pattern offers both a wide leg trouser and shorts option. The style features tucks the entire length of the leg, side seam pockets (although you could opt for no pockets like my chocolate brown pair to get a nice smooth finish on the side seam) and an extra wide waistband with the option to add a belt and belt loops (if you wish). I have limited space to add photos on the website, so please check out @nhpatterns on Instagram to see a story highlight filled with tester photos in all different sizes or check out the hashtag #nhriviera

Skill level:

This pattern is labelled as intermediate due to the skills required to insert a fly front zipper and add side seam pockets, however this is detailed with easy to follow instructions, so a confident advanced beginner will also find this challenging but not impossible!

Great beginner trouser pattern

this was my first pair of more structured trouser with a zipper fly. I have been sewing seriously for over a year now so I figured it was time to take on more "intermediate" skills for sewing.
Pros: Easy pattern to follow with the help of the video.
I love how long torso friendly this pattern is! It is truly high waisted!

Cons: Serging/overlocking the front pieces, I have watched numerous zipper fly videos and i think making the zipper fly its own separate piece like the zipper shield would be easy to over lock. I had major issues trying to get the fabric serged.
The crotch length. I am a very long torso woman and these are HIGH WAIST! however the crotch sits low. I am considering just making this adjustment myself next time for a more bespoke trouser fit.
I wish there was an option to make the pockets with a lining to reduce bulk. (like how jean pockets are)

Fantastic pattern!

I’d consider myself on the beginner side of intermediate and I found this pattern easy to follow with the video! It was my first time sewing a fly and I’m really happy with the result! The only change I made was to serge up the leg seams instead of serge each piece, straight stitch then press, because I’m lazy and I found it didn’t make a difference that I can tell. I’ll definitely be making these again!

Maybe my favorite pattern yet!

I only made the shorts (for now) and I'm in love with it!
The instructions are written so good, I finally learned how to properly sew fly extensions, shield etc. I like that it explains every step but also it gives you a reason *why* are you doing that.
I couldn't recommend this pattern enough.
