TME Advanced Gymnastics – Complete Years 7–9 Scheme of Learning

Create a safe, challenging and creative gymnastics programme with 13 progressive lessons covering floor work, sequence development, apparatus and vaulting.

Pupils refine balances, rotations, travelling actions, jumps, shapes and controlled transitions before combining them within increasingly complex individual, paired and group sequences. They explore compositional devices such as levels, pathways, matching, mirroring, canon and changes in dynamics. Vaulting activities progressively develop approach, take-off, flight and safe landing.

The scheme contains detailed apparatus arrangements, mat layouts, teaching cues, safety checks and progression guidance. Visual infographics, STEP differentiation, SEND and EAL support, Head–Heart–Hands assessment and Assessment for Learning are embedded throughout. Metacognition and oracy activities help pupils plan routines, monitor control and fluency, give precise peer feedback and justify compositional choices.
