The grey-breasted parakeet (Myiopsitta monachus), also known as the Argentine parakeet and in the Balearic Islands as the grey-headed parakeet, is a bird that belongs to the order of the psittaciformes, such as parrots, cockatoos and parakeets. It was considered the only species of the genus Myiopsitta, although currently some authors have considered the subspecies luchsi, a species in its own right. It is native to South America, but has recently colonized different parts of Europe and North America, from individuals that escaped from captivity, since it is common as a pet.

These birds are very good architects, a strong proof is that they usually install their nests in the upper part of palm trees. The nests can reach 100 kg in weight. In the city of Barcelona we have a lot.
