Shippo Tsunagi Sashiko Medallion PDF — Linked Treasures Stick & Stitch Template | 7", 5" & 4" | Water Soluble Printable | Instant Download
✦ Shippo Tsunagi (Linked Seven Treasures) — Traditional Japanese Sashiko Medallion ✦
A hoop-sized medallion of twenty-one linked circles, drawn true to size and ready to stitch by hand. Print it, trace the circles onto your fabric, or print straight onto water-soluble stabilizer, and stitch them one by one as a hoop centerpiece, a pillow panel, or a framed piece.
Shippo Tsunagi (七宝つなぎ, "linked seven treasures") builds its circles from the Buddhist seven treasures, an old symbol of abundance and harmony. Tsunagi means linked or connected, so as each circle overlaps its neighbors into small pointed leaves, the whole medallion reads as an unbroken chain: a wish for lasting bonds and shared good fortune. Worked as a hexagon of twenty-one rings, it stitches up as a calm, rhythmic project with a satisfying, symmetrical shape.
WHAT YOU GET (instant download, ONE PDF):
• A 7" medallion, for a 7-8" hoop, a pillow, a tote/bag panel, or a table-runner centerpiece
• A 5" medallion, for a 5-6" hoop or a framed accent
• A 4" medallion, a small hoop or accent (pocket, patch, gift topper)
• A dashed cut-box + 1-inch scale square on every page so it's easy to position and print true-scale
• Prints true-scale on BOTH US Letter and A4, one file, just print at 100%
HOW IT WORKS: 1) Print at 100% (check the 1-inch square) → 2) Trace onto fabric on a lightbox, or print directly onto water-soluble stabilizer → 3) Stitch each circle as an even running stitch, letting the neighboring circles overlap into the linked shapes → 4) finish and rinse away the stabilizer.
Please note: this is a print-&-stitch TEMPLATE (the motif in three sizes), it does not include step-by-step lessons. Work circle by circle from the center out so the overlaps land evenly. Classic white or a soft indigo both stay true to the traditional look.
